For Homeschooling Families

WATKINSON HAS A LONG and proud history of service to students from families who have homeschooled their children up to middle or high school.  Some of our alumni who have gone on to achieve significantly at college or in the work place include Caroline Psutka ’05, Connor Henderson '09, Annalise Kieley '10 and others.

Admission Process for Homeschoolers
Watkinson knows that sometimes the admission process for homeschooled students and their parents can be daunting.  Let us take the stress out of the process for you.  Know that we understand that many of the admission forms—especially teacher recommendation forms—aren’t applicable for your child.  Many parents of homeschooled students work with their child to develop a portfolio of their child’s work and submit that with the application in lieu of some of the traditional forms.  Know that we are flexible and want to work with you.  At any point, contact Director of Admission John Crosson and he will be more than happy to hear your concerns and make suggestions.

Testimonials from Parents
If you have questions about how it is working for some of our current students who have come from homeschooling situations, ask to speak with their parents—Annelieke Schauer, Ann Henderson, and Bethany Kiely.  We will get you connected on the phone or by email.

Testimonials
From Annalise K. '10
Although I’ve been here since 6th grade, up until very recently I didn’t appreciate all the things Watkinson has done for me; perhaps being student trustee has helped enlighten me. On my way home from tonight’s Board Meeting, I decided I should share my epiphany with you.

That’s as close to homeschooling as I am going to get in a school.
