International Students

Although Watkinson is a day school, we embrace diversity and welcome international students to our school. We can assist with host family arrangements as well as manage the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). We will also issue the I-20 to students once they have been admitted and enrolled. Students must take the 1-20 to the U.S. Consulate in their native country to apply for the F-1 student visa.

The admissions process is the same for domestic and international students however, for applicants whose first language is not English and may not demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. TOEFL test results should be sent directly from the testing agency to Watkinson School (school code: 8050). Photocopies are not accepted.  Watkinson does offer supplemental tutoring support for students who need assistance with speaking, reading and writing English.

International student fees are outlined below:

$500 Service and Processing Fee
$15,000 Host Family Administration and Placement Fee

If possible, international applicants are encouraged to visit our school for an on-campus tour and interview. If this is not feasible, we strongly suggest arranging a Skype interview with an admissions representative.

Valentines Day 2012
2/1/2012
We tasted candies and treats from Taiwan and Korea; the students made chocolate truffles; and they created Valentine cards to express their thanks to the (host) families and teachers.  Everyone learned about American Valentine traditions!

Pumpkin Picking
10/27/2011
Watkinson's six international students (from Taiwan, China, Korea and Switzerland) were taken by four faculty members to a farm to pick pumpkins, and they carved them while snacking on donuts, apples and cider. It was their first experience with a real American fall tradition.
