  • Attend the Watkinson Alumni Reunion On Friday, November 2nd, 2018!

by Alexa Miano, University of Hartford Communications Intern

This Friday night, November 2nd from 5 to 11pm, Watkinson will be hosting an Alumni Reunion for the classes who graduated in the years ending in 3s and 8s, though all alumni are welcome to attend! Alumni can tour the campus and reminisce about their time spent at Watkinson with the Assistant Head of School John Crosson. They may also enjoy the photography exhibit and cocktail reception held in the Roberts Gallery, followed by dinner, awards, and dancing with friends. Three Watkinson alumni will be honored, Hope Lipp Hall ’88 with the Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award, and Johann Smith ’05 and Chris Brooke ’90 are going to be inducted into Watkinson’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
  • Amanda Ostrowitz '04 Sells Her Company

If you ask any of the long-time Watkinson faculty and staff what they remember about Amanda Ostrowitz '04, they will mention her big personality, her dominance as a soccer goalie for the Lady Rams, and her perseverance.  A lifer at Watkinson, Amanda's fondest memories of her time here include playing soccer in the mud on Hupp Memorial Field. She also had some amusing and incomplete memories involving collaborating with Shardae Shipman '04 on a science project for Mr. Angle's class that involved making a bed of nails...but that seems to be a story for another day.  While at Watkinson, Amanda had her sights set on becoming a doctor; however, she laughed, "One college-level biology class and I knew that wasn't going to happen!"
  • Hinman '01 Named to HBJ "40 Under Forty"

Jessica Johnson Hinman '01 named to Hartford Business Journal's prestigious "40 Under Forty" list. For the past 21 years, the HBJ, aided by independent judges, has selected 40 of the top up-and-coming young professionals who are leading their respective organizations. In 2017, HBJ received nearly 200 nominations for their 40 Under Forty awards. Narrowing down the list to 40 deserving winners was a difficult task. More importantly, our winners provide evidence that our region has a vast young talent pool.

Make a Gift

“Everyday excellence” is more than a description of Watkinson; it’s a promise to our families. We’re committed to providing the resources—personal, intellectual, and material—that allow our students to explore, grow, and thrive. This requires big things: great teachers, accessible advisors, generous scholarships. And it requires smaller things: paper clips, wing nuts, toner cartridges for the photocopier. Tuition covers only part of these ongoing, necessary expenses. The Fund for Everyday Excellence—Watkinson's Annual Fund—does the rest.
